Dear Patrons:
What a year! 2022 has come to a close and your local cooperative encountered many challenges throughout the year, but we were able to handle all of them with the commitment of our staff and a bit of extra hard work.
New Business Growth
We were able to add the casino at our Hilltop operation that we had been working on since we originally purchased the facility back in 2006. In addition, we were able to get the new Market Basket and Dublin Down Casino facility built at a time when many building supplies were very hard to get and in some cases not available such that we had to use secondary options to complete the project. We had to deal with extremely high inventory costs that drove up our need for short term money as well as putting pressure on our patrons to cover these high input costs. The issues of finding enough employees to man our locations have continued to be an issue this past year and may still be something we deal with rolling into 2023.
Propane Supply
We have finished the year with struggles getting enough propane supply because of issues at the local refineries that reduced propane production in the local area. With all these issues, our connections and commitment to our patrons came through and everyone had the products and services they needed, when they needed it.
Fiscal Recap
We have been able to get our preliminary books run for the fiscal year end, and it looks like we will be posting very positive numbers for the year. We will be busy working with our auditors through most of March to get the full audited report for presentation at our Annual Meeting. All divisions look like they will post a good local net and we are expecting good patronage back from CHS which will help add to the patronage that we will pay out this spring.
